A GUIDE TO PREHABILITATION: STRENGTHENING BEFORE SURGERY

Surgery can be an overwhelming experience for anyone, but did you know that being proactive and performing a prehabilitation program can significantly help your recovery? Prehabilitation requires strengthening and conditioning your body before undergoing surgery. The goal is to build strength, improve flexibility, and boost cardiovascular health beneficial especially undergoing orthopedic, cardiac, or cancer-related surgeries, but it’s advantageous for anyone preparing for a major surgical procedure! 

The many benefits of prehabilitation can include a faster recovery time, reduced postoperative complications, and potential for enhanced surgical outcomes. 

Strengthening programs would focus on improving muscle mass on the major muscle groups such as squats, push ups, lunges. Conditioning exercises to help improve cardiovascular help such as walking, cycling, swimming. Stretching exercises to help keep muscles supple and prevent stiffness.
